Our teeth whitening methods

During your assessment appointment, the dentist will examine your teeth and discuss your goals and expectations. We offer various teeth whitening methods, including:

External tooth whitening in the dental clinic

  • This procedure involves applying a whitening gel to your teeth and waiting for the gel to act, and the application of the gel can be repeated during the appointment. After the first appointment you will see results, however, they may not be what you want and you may need an additional whitening appointment at the dental clinic or supplement this at home with trays. Your dentist will advise you on the best option.

Outpatient tooth whitening

  • The option of teeth whitening kits for use at home is currently the most popular for whitening teeth and improving your smile. If you prefer the convenience of whitening your teeth at home, we can provide you with personalised trays as well as professional-quality whitening gel. Our team will guide you through the procedure that suits your needs.

Internal whitening

  • In certain situations, such as devitalised teeth that are darkening or changing colour, internal whitening may be necessary. This procedure must always be carried out in a dental practice by a dentist, with the gel being applied to the inside of the tooth.

When should teeth whitening be carried out?

Although the shade of teeth varies from person to person, there are many factors that can contribute to changes in the colour of natural teeth, including ageing, lifestyle choices and certain foods and drinks.

Feeling insecure about your smile due to stained or yellowed teeth? Tooth whitening can be an effective solution.

Benefits of Teeth Whitening

Safe and effective

Our dentists use clinically proven, safe and effective teeth whitening procedures. We prioritise your oral health, without neglecting the desired aesthetic result.

Fast and convenient

Tooth whitening is a non-invasive aesthetic procedure that can be completed in just a few sessions, either at home or in a dental practice, depending on the clinical situation. You can get a whiter smile without disturbing your daily activities.

 Increase your confidence

A bright, white smile can significantly improve your self-esteem and confidence. Whether it's for a job interview, a special event or simply to feel better about yourself, teeth whitening can give you the boost you need.

Long-lasting results

With proper care and maintenance, the effect of your tooth whitening can be long-lasting. Our exclusively practising dentists will provide you with guidance on how to maintain the result of your treatment over the long term.

Which pathologies can it treat?

1. Teeth with Extrinsic Stains

Extrinsic stains are superficial discolourations that affect tooth enamel, usually caused by external factors such as the consumption of food and drink (coffee, tea, red wine), smoking or poor oral hygiene.

2. Teeth with Intrinsic Stains

Intrinsic stains are internal discolourations that occur within the tooth structure (dentin). These stains can be caused by factors such as dental trauma, excessive exposure to fluoride during tooth formation (fluorosis), the use of certain medications, or natural ageing.

3. Post-trauma discolouration

Dental trauma, such as an injury or blow to the teeth, can result in discolouration. This is because the trauma can cause the nerve inside the tooth to die, leading to a greyish or brownish colour.

FAQ's

  • 1. What care should be taken after tooth whitening?

After teeth whitening, it is important to maintain good oral hygiene practices to maximise the longevity of your results, which is why we recommend:

    - Flossing daily to remove plaque or debris from between the teeth.

    - Brushing your teeth at least twice a day.

    - Avoiding foods and drinks that can pigment your teeth, such as coffee, tea, red wine or berries.

    - Carry out regular check-ups and oral hygiene appointments to ensure your oral health is maintained.

  • 2. From what age can you have your teeth whitened?

In general, whitening can be carried out on anyone over the age of 18. However, it is essential to have an assessment appointment to ensure that the procedure is carried out safely. There are also certain situations such as caries lesions, tooth sensitivity or gum disease that may limit the possibility of whitening or require prior treatment. Tooth whitening is not recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

  • 3. What can I do about restorations, veneers, crowns or bridges to make sure they match my natural teeth?

Please note that whitening products do not act on the materials that make up restorations, veneers, crowns or partial or full dentures. Ask your dentist for advice on the best treatment plan to achieve harmonious colour throughout your teeth.

  • 4. What are the risks associated with tooth whitening? Is it painful?

Tooth whitening is a non-invasive aesthetic treatment which, if carried out under the supervision of your dentist, presents no risk. The side effects often associated with whitening are increased tooth sensitivity and gum discomfort. In these situations, your dentist can adjust the concentration of the whitening product as well as the frequency/time of use of the trays to eliminate the associated discomfort and prescribe desensitising agents.

  • 5. Who will carry out the treatment? How long will the procedure last?

Whitening is a medical act and should always be carried out by qualified professionals. The duration of treatment will always depend on each patient's clinical situation and the type of procedure adopted. Clarify all your questions with your dentist.

  • 6. What is the post-treatment follow-up and who can I contact for advice after whitening?

Once the treatment is complete, our team will give you all the recommendations you need to prolong the effect of your whitening.
